Kurtis Elsner was born and raised in the small town of Alliston, Ontario. Before graduating from high school, he dedicated much of his time to working for his parents’ family business.
After high school, Kurtis moved to Ottawa to study journalism and history at Carleton University. Through journalism, he hoped to combine his love of writing with his desire to travel and experience different cultures and environments. His summer work as a contributing reporter and photographer at The Herald, Alliston’s local newspaper, introduced him to the world of photography. In the future Kurtis hopes to use his writing and photography skills to bring global issues home to his readers.
Along with reading and writing, Kurtis enjoys sports such as baseball and badminton, as well as camping, fishing and other outdoor activities. He is also a self-taught guitarist who enjoys listening to music as much as he enjoys playing it.
