Roger Bird
Roger
Bird brings a lifetime of news reporting and editing, magazine
editing, and journalism teaching to the Rwanda Initiative.
In Carleton University’s journalism program
he taught reporting, editing, history of journalism, history
of ideas and feature writing.
He has worked, among others, for the Ottawa
Citizen, the Globe and Mail, the Montreal
Gazette, CBC television news and is on the editorial
advisory committee of Canadian Geographic magazine;
he is also an elected fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical
Society.
He is copy editor of Diplomat and International
magazine and editor of Ottawa Outdoors magazine.
He was project director and editor of “Canada and the
World,” a poster map of the world co-published by Canadian
Geographic and CIDA, Canada’s international development
agency, in 2004.
Bird’s son lives in Boston where he teaches
in university and his daughter is manager of a European tourism
company based in Beaune, France. His wife Ann is a fabric
artist.
He is an avid hiker, snowshoer and bird watcher.
